Better BIM Handovers: What Changes, What Survives, Who Accepts?
Edition: 26 October 2026. Three recent developments selected for this briefing were announced earlier in October, not on the edition date. Original official sources were checked on 26 October. The practical exercises below are BIMETI editorial proposals, not completed product tests.
Simplebim 12: make model processing repeatable
Simplebim 12 was released on 19 October. Reusable dataflows and named file locations support more portable processing. Its AI assistant advises rather than executes; migration of Apply Template workflows carries a compatibility warning.
Automation should make transformations reproducible. Keep source and output apart, record the dataflow version and compare changed properties. Introduce an intentionally missing value and require a visible exception. In training, compare before-and-after tables and explain why standardising a label does not validate its truth. These capabilities do not establish compliance with a project’s information requirements.

BricsCAD V27: an import needs an acceptance test
The Windows 27.1.05 release-note entry is dated 20 October. Navisworks import, IFC geometry controls and IDS-driven property typing broaden the exchange workflow. Navisworks import is within BIM/Ultimate scope; opening a coordination file does not establish that all information is ready for further authoring.
Use a small permitted sample with known location, property types and required operations. Verify these after import and specify whether the result is accepted for visual coordination, quantities or further authoring. Assess semantic preservation as well as appearance. Import tolerance is not a conformance certificate, and this briefing adopts no measured performance claim.

Procore and IBM: prepare the asset-data contract
The collaboration announced on 21 October targets a connection to IBM Maximo. The announcement distinguishes existing Procore Asset Management from future plans. It does not establish a completed integration or delivery date.
A useful handover needs identifiers, field ownership and accepted evidence, regardless of connector choice. Define these for one pump, then test correction, duplicate-ID and replacement cases. A teaching exercise can reconcile two inconsistent asset registers and document who has acceptance authority. A partnership announcement is not proof of operational readiness, commercial terms or project-specific availability.

Practical takeaway
Ask three questions at every handover: what changes, what survives, and who accepts it? Preserve source records, version the transformation and validate the next use. Original clay illustrations explain these concepts; they are not product screenshots or evidence of tested performance.
