Practical Control: AI Review, API Usage and an Installation Fix
Edition: 28 October 2026. One announcement from 28 October and two developments from 27 October: Allplan Max 2027, Autodesk APS Usage Insights and a PlusSpec installation hotfix. These are vendor-reported developments, not independently tested results. The practical checks below are BIMETI editorial recommendations.
Allplan Max 2027: AI assistance does not transfer responsibility
Nemetschek Group and Allplan announced Allplan Max 2027 on 28 October. The initiative introduces AI capabilities across Allplan, SCIA, FRILO and SDS2, covering BIM, structural analysis and fabrication-related workflows. Named tools include a BIM analyst, a formula writer and workflow-building tools. Allplan’s current product information describes object finding, attribute checks, quantities and reports as BIM Analyst uses.
The important boundary is engineering responsibility. The announcement retains design intent, review, approval and final outcomes with engineers. Availability varies by product, package and region; a portfolio announcement does not mean every capability is ready in every installation. BIMETI has not independently tested the claimed productivity benefits.
Proposed check: use an authorised sample model with a known object count and one deliberately missing attribute. Ask a question that can also be checked manually. Compare the selected objects and the result, not simply the fluency of the answer. Record the model revision, question, tool version and reviewer. In teaching, assess the verification method alongside the answer.

APS Usage Insights: consumption is not an invoice
Autodesk’s announcement dated 27 October introduces APS Usage Insights in Autodesk Assistant. Authorised users can ask about historical API consumption for applications, hubs or teams, compare periods and identify which APIs drive usage. Access follows existing APS permissions; the assistant does not grant additional access.
Usage Insights reports consumed units, not billed amounts or a real-time token balance. Autodesk directs users to their account billing information for actual charges. Historical consumption can inform Cost Advisor scenarios, but those estimates depend on pricing and assumptions and are not guaranteed forecasts.
Proposed check: compare the same application, API and date range in the assistant and the underlying usage report. Write the scope and period beside the result. If a planning scenario doubles consumption, label that assumption explicitly. A conversational estimate is not an approved budget. This article does not inspect an account or calculate anyone’s charges.

PlusSpec 26.2: a narrow SketchUp 27 installation fix
PlusSpec’s release notes date version 26.2, package Rbz 26.2.0, to 27 October. The listed change is a SketchUp 27 installation hotfix, marked for PlusDesignBuild, PlusArchitect and PlusSpec Pro. This is a maintenance update rather than a new modelling feature set.
The fix is a separate development from the SketchUp 2027 launch covered in the 25 October edition. It does not establish compatibility for every existing project or extension combination, and older improvements listed further down the release-notes page should not be attributed to version 26.2.
Proposed check: preserve the working setup and evaluate a copy of a small project before wider rollout. Confirm that the extension loads, an existing object can be edited and the required outputs still behave as expected. Successful installation and successful project use are different acceptance checks. These are recommendations, not tests performed for this edition.

Practical takeaway
An AI result is not engineering approval. Recorded consumption is not a bill. An installation fix is not a complete project acceptance test. Keep the evidence, define the boundary and name the person who accepts the result.
