LibreCAD is a free, open-source 2D CAD application for precise linework, layers, dimensions and drawing layouts. AEC exercises can include floor plans, elevations and construction details, with DXF-based drawing exchange. It is a focused tool for learning and producing 2D drawings, rather than 3D modeling or BIM authoring.
